the Eircom Spider Awards

I got a phone call earlier on. "Hello, this is ____ from the Eircom Spider Awards, ..." "I'm not all that interested" "Oh, okay then, goodbye sir"

 

I got the feeling I was just one person on a very long list. Nice way to make some money: set up an award, advertise it widely, then charge a BOMB for the audience.

 

I had a look at the website. €300 PER PERSON just to sit in the audience.

 

not only that, but the entrants have to pay, and anyone that wants to vote has to pay.

 

who gets the money? for €300, I would want to come home with a shit load of goodies. A good meal and some claps are simply not good enough.

 

ridiculous.

 

personally, I think that a much better competition is one that is /free/ to enter (or even better, that you can win without even entering), that is /free/ to vote in as long as identification is done properly, and that has reasonably priced seats.
